Using EFT tapping to overcome procrastination

Are you resisting, or procrastinating something that you need done? Are you putting off cleaning the garage, exercising, getting your health checked, making that phone call, or finishing boring paperwork? You know you should be doing this thing, but you can’t get around to pulling up your socks and actually doing it. Over time, nagging thoughts about the pending thing take a life of their own and start eating into your happiness. If you’re enjoying yourself, these pesky thoughts come rushing to remind you how you should be doing that thing instead.

It gets more and more difficult to get around to doing this thing just because of the pile up of negativity. Then we start blaming ourselves, make promises to ourselves, but nothing seems to control this mammoth. How about we try EFT tapping to see if we can melt away this guilt and burdensome thoughts and get our power back?

Even though I know I need to do this thing, but I just don’t want to do it, even so, I accept myself for feeling this way. I want to feel okay.

Even though the longer this thing remains pending the longer nagging thoughts and worry will keep torturing me, but I just can’t get myself around to doing it. I wish I could just get it over with magically!

Even though all this time leading up to the actual doing of this thing is generating guilt and loathing, I wish I could shake off the lethargy and resistance and JUST DO IT! I want to tick it off my to-do list.

EFT tapping round 1

Eyebrow    I don’t think I’ll like doing this thing.

Side of the eye    I know I need to be doing it.

Under the eye    But I just don’t want to.

Under the nose    I make plans about doing it.

Chin    But when it is action time, I pass it up.

Collar bone    I promise to myself,

Under the arm    but my enthusiasm fizzles.

Top of the head    And that makes me feel bad.

EFT tapping round 2

Eyebrow    This thing has become a burden.

Side of the eye    It will be nice to get it done.

Under the eye    But I haven’t got around to it yet.

Under the nose    It feels like a big demand on me.

Chin    I hate it that now I cannot go back

Collar bone    or forward about this issue.

Under the arm    I’m stuck!

Top of the head    I hate this constant guilt

EFT tapping round 3

Eyebrow    and internal nagging.

Side of the eye    Why do I have to do things I don’t like?

Under the eye    Why should I do it?

Under the nose    I’d rather be doing something I enjoy.

Chin    What if it became slightly enjoyable?

Collar bone    I’ll surely feel a big relief

Under the arm    once I’ve done it.

Top of the head    Maybe I can celebrate that!

EFT tapping round 4

Eyebrow    I sure want to get it over with.

Side of the eye    But getting myself to start

Under the eye    seems impossible.

Under the nose    Even if I do start with it,

Chin    I’ll give up in the middle.

Collar bone    Maybe doing this thing will generate

Under the arm    more work that I won’t enjoy.

Top of the head    It is so dull! It makes me feel uneasy.

EFT tapping round 5

Eyebrow    What about this constant unease

Side of the eye    that not doing it is causing?

Under the eye    I want to free myself of this guilt.

Under the nose    I wish someone else would do it for me.

Chin    But what if I’m only averse to

Collar bone    the IDEA of doing this thing?

Under the arm    What if I’m only abhoring this transition

Top of the head    leading up to the actual doing of this thing?

EFT tapping round 6

Eyebrow    What if I actually enjoy doing it

Side of the eye    and even thank myself later?

Under the eye    What if I could feel good about it?

Under the nose    Or at least neutral?

Chin    Collapsing this wall of unnecessary resistance.

Collar bone    This thing sure looks doable now.

Under the arm    I choose to pull up my resources

Top of the head    that will help me see it through.

EFT tapping round 7

Eyebrow    I choose to remember

Side of the eye    the benefit of doing this thing.

Under the eye    Allowing all this remaining resistance

Under the nose    to melt away, freeing me.

Chin    I’m already feeling the relief. Aah!

Collar bone    I’m thanking myself in advance,

Under the arm    for finishing this thing easily, and happily.

Top of the head    I’m all pumped! Three cheers to that!
