Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) tapping project

The act of tapping on bothersome emotions brings them up and clears them out. Energy blockages that were created as a result of negative emotions are dislodged and you start to feel better and better. Or should.

Sometimes, when negative emotions leave, they can leave behind a feeling of void. This is especially true if you have been used to that feeling for a long time.

For example, if you have been angry at someone for years and that anger leaves thanks to Tapping, you start to wonder, OK, so how am I supposed to feel about this person now?

It is like a run up to a much awaited event, and as soon as it gets over, you start to feel empty inside. Without your realizing, you may even be missing that negative emotion.

One way to fill this void is with happy thoughts and positive emotions. How do you do that? The same way you can drive out negative emotions – through Tapping. It often happens that as negative emotions leave, they are spontaneously replaced by wiser, positive thoughts that bubble up from within. These are spontaneous reframes. I’ve talked more about in my previous post on reframes.

Another way is to create reframes or positive statements yourself. Once your anger at a person is pacified, how would you like to feel about that person now? Was there anything positive that came out of your interactions with that person? What would you like to take away from that experience? For example, you could tap on the statment:

Even though I feel empty inside because I no longer feel any anger towards that person, I now choose to cherish all the wisdom I gained from my interactions with them. I choose to have this wisdom at my disposal whenever I need it.

Even though I’m feeling kind of lost not knowing how I am supposed to “feel” about that event now, I choose to remember all the good that came out of it anyway. I choose to be grateful knowing that I can not only survive but thrive, even under difficult circumstances. I choose to applaud myself for that.

Basically we are trying to tune into a feeling of contentment and hope. We are also appreciating ourselves for ridding us of the negative emotions. If nothing, tap on the feeling of “secretly missing” that negative emotion and you should start to feel better.

I often find myself feeling very sad after I tap on a really big issue.
