Do I need to tap through a tapping script every day? How often should I tap through it?
I recommend you tap through any tapping script a few times until you find that all the negative charge around an issue has diffused. Tapping through a script a few times over helps you to imbibe the message of the script at a deep level.

It is easier to understand this if you look at EFT as an advanced form of learning. When you are working with EFT, you are changing your habitual thought patterns into ones that actually benefit you. It often happens that with every run through a tapping script, deep seated layers of an issue unravel like the layers of an onion. Memories related to that issue may surface and new insights about possible solutions may come to mind as you tap along. Tapping through a script is much more powerful than simply reading a self-help book. Again, this becomes clear if you look at EFT as an advanced form of learning where learning is happening at a much deeper level.

There is no upper limit to how many times you can tap through a script. There is no lower limit either. You will find relief with a single go of a script. Every subsequent run only enhances the effects further. You will come to know when you no longer need a tapping script.

As a guideline, you can tap through a script say for a week daily if an issue is of high intensity for you.

What is the best way to use your tapping scripts?
While using a tapping script to release a negative emotion, say fear, you can repeat the words of the script, or you can tune into your own thoughts about this fear as you tap along. Say you are using a tapping script to get rid of the fear of displeasing people and you know that being around your boss brings up this fear in you. You start to say or do things just so that he/she will not be displeased with you. In that case, tap along to the script imagining yourself being around you boss. Focus on the fearful feelings you experience when you are around your boss. This is one way to use a tapping script where you are tuning into your own thoughts about a problem instead of following the wording of the script.

Another way is to focus on the words in the script as you tap along. You know that EFT is a cleaning technique in which we bring up negative emotions and clear them out. A good tapping script stirs up emotions and brings them up for you. Tapping while being in that emotionally charged state clears out the negative emotions. So, in this way, the words of a tapping script stoke the fire. This is especially useful if you find it hard to access your feelings about any issue. A good tapping script will do that job for you and put you in touch with your real feelings about that issue.

What if I don’t see much change even after tapping?
Although EFT has come to be known as one of the most powerful methods of transformation and it often shows astounding results within minutes, its effectiveness can get hampered by a few factors.

  • Dehydration is identified as one of the factors that can cause Psychological Reversal, which in turn hampers the effectiveness of EFT Tapping. Psychological Reversal (PR), simply put, is a state of mind where you don’t want to let go of a problem for any reason. By tapping on the Karate Chop at the beginning, we aim to cancel out PR. It is also said that by the time you realize you are thirsty, you are already dehydrated. So we should be drinking enough water throughout the day to keep our bodies hydrated.
  • It often happens that with tapping you are able to get an issue down to zero intensity, be it an emotional upheaval or a physical problem. But sometimes, after some initial progress, you may get stuck where the intensity refuses to go down. It may feel like tapping is not working.   • One of the most important factors behind effective tapping is honesty. It sometimes needs courage to accept how you feel about certain things. But trying to cover up emotions because they make you feel uncomfortable will cause tapping to simply skim the surface instead of rooting out the problem. If you think you may be in denial about something, try a couple rounds of tapping like this: “even though I don’t want to admit my true feelings about this issue, I’m okay” or “even though I’m resistant to admitting how I really feel about this issue, what if I gave myself an honest chance for once”? And then tap on the real problem. If you don’t shy away from honesty, you’ll see great results from even a little bit of tapping.
  • Because negativity clears up at a deeper level when you use EFT, you may feel so much lighter afterwards that you may not believe how much an issue used to bother you and what big shifts tapping has created. Since your thoughts about that problem have changed and that problem no longer looks like the sword hanging over your head that it once used to, it is easy to downplay the role of tapping. This happens quite often and can mislead you into thinking that Tapping didn’t help you much. To prevent this, give your problem a number from 0 to 10 before you start with tapping, 0 being it doesn’t bother you at all and 10 meaning the problem is downright torture for you. After every few rounds of tapping, check where this number stands. That will help you quantify how much tapping is helping you and where you stand.

What homework can I do on my own to enhance the effects of a tapping script?
As you start to tap on any issue, sometimes you find that your mind is bringing up memories of past incidents related or seemingly unrelated to that issue. It may be that your present tapping is bringing to your awareness certain beliefs that were acquired in the past. These beliefs may be related to the problem you’re tapping about. For example, you are tapping about your relationship with your spouse and you are suddenly reminded of a bully who used to terrorize you when you were little. At such times, it may help to go back to that memory and tap on it as well, as it could be at the root of your present relationship problems.

When such memories come to mind, make a note of them. Afterwards, simply tap on the EFT points while thinking about that memory. No words will be necessary since you will be tuned into the memory anyway. So just tap while feeling the upset. This will help root out your specific limiting beliefs around that issue. This is a powerful method to use in conjunction with my tapping scripts.
