In today’s video, I want to tell you about why tapping works for some issues, and maybe not so well for others. The question comes down to whether you are slapping your weeds, or pulling them out. I know, this sounds totally bizarre but let me explain.

What happens with tapping is that when we use it for everyday challenges, small upsets here and there, any little simple tapping will do, and that brings us more peace and makes us feel calm, results are pretty quick.

But sometimes, what happens is that you do the tapping and you feel maybe a little bit better, but those emotions come back again later on. Or maybe the events that lead to that kind of emotional upset keep happening again and again. You wonder why tapping didn’t resolve that issue.

That is where the concept of root cause comes into picture. A root cause is any event, memory, or a thought, that has created a belief in you that that is how things are going to be from now on.

Maybe somebody betrayed you when you were much younger. That lead you to believe that no matter what you do for others, they’ll just end up betraying you. Maybe in your subconscious mind that took root, that formed and sat as a limiting belief. Known or unknown to you, it is still running your life.

So every time a coworker maybe betrays you even a little bit, that triggered emotional upset comes back, without you realizing what is behind it. The main event, the event that lead to forming that belief, or maybe there were a number of such events that lead to forming this limiting belief – that no matter what you do, people will betray you, people will not value you – has taken root, and now that is what is running your life under the surface of your awareness.

That is the root cause. That is why when you tap on everyday emotional upsets using little, simple tapping, it brings temporary relief. But the weeds are still there. Any simple tapping that you do everyday is like slapping the weeds.

That brings some relief, you feel somewhat better, and tapping has still done its job. But, what is needed is for you to pull out the weeds, to take care of the root cause. To uproot the main cause that has lead to this belief that is creating such events continuously in your life.

It doesn’t just have to be in one area of your life. It can be many other areas. Maybe it’s your career, maybe it’s your health, maybe it’s your relationships – the same kind of thing keeps happening over and over.

And sometimes the pattern isn’t very clear to you, but the underlying feeling, the aftermath of such events, is always the same. That you feel betrayed, you feel abandoned, nothing ever works out.

That’s an example of a limiting belief. There could be a number of such limiting beliefs that are hiding under the surface of our consciousness. That is what you want to pull out.

While tapping is great to use as a quick lifestyle tool, which I always recommend, there is this whole other aspect to tapping. You can take your work so much deeper and you can turn around your life, if that’s what you need to do at this point, you can do that.

You can pull out those limiting beliefs, pinpoint which events in your past lead you to this state with this set of beliefs, with this set of circumstances and how you can change that. All of that can be done using tapping.
