With so much resting on uncovering the emotions behind situations, it can feel like you need to be psychic to get anything out of your tapping efforts.
The good thing is, you do not need to first find the emotional component to get going. You start tapping on exactly what you think of the problem.
An example or two will make this clear.
“The doctor said it is in my genes. Nothing can be done about it.”
“This laptop is now good as junk. Obviously it won’t work just before my important presentation.”
“They had to cancel last minute because of bad weather. There’s nothing I can do about it, can I?”
“I have always had a weak eyesight. I am doomed to wear glasses for the rest of my life.”
All of the above examples look like there are factors beyond your control and there really can’t be any emotional root cause.
So what you do is, you start tapping on the “truth” you know. For example, “Even though the doctor said that it is in my genes and nothing can be done about it, I deeply and completely love and accept myself”. Do a few rounds of this and see if your “facts” seems more malleable now. At this time, your mind is open to ideas that involve you getting better in spite of your genetic makeup and your doctor’s verdict.
These facts are like the patina on a bronze statue. As these facts loosen up, you will notice thoughts related to the matter uncovering before you. You may get ideas about what alternative treatments to explore. Or you may get reminded of a painful incident around the time this condition developed. All these issues are giving you clues that can help you get better. Go with the flow and tap on your feelings.
Here’s my secret sauce on tapping for problems that don’t seem to have an emotional component:
Tap on what you “know” to unearth how you “feel”. Then tap on those feelings.
It is possible that certain uncomfortable emotions will unearth as a result of tapping. Continue to tap until the emotional intensity has come down considerably. At all times during tapping, remain open to noticing what thoughts and incidents your mind brings up.
As with any alternative healing modality, you need to be wise about when EFT tapping will suffice and when you need medical intervention.
